Why Does Google Not Need Any Advertising?

For a company that has grown to the size of Google, it is amazing how they have managed it with virtually no advertising or promotion?

Other similar corporations like Microsoft have had big ad budgets and have continued to aggressively advertise to maintain their dominance of the market. So what is so special about Google? Is there something that smaller websites and enterprises can learn from the Google phenomenon?

One of the reasons why Google hardly needs any advertising can be found in its' culture and way of doing business. Google focuses with laser-like precision on serving the best interests of their users and do such a good job of it that most of these delighted users become its best advocates. It is really as simple as that.

The exact same formula was used to lift Google from oblivion a few short years ago, to the dominant search engine in the world. And even today when the company makes most of its' revenue from advertising, it still does virtually no advertising itself.

This illustrates more than anything else, the power of word of mouth advertising and how any business can stay out of Television and other major corporate advertising ventures and still end up growing into a huge, slid business.

The web hosting business provides plenty of opportunities for shining and growing in the market mainly by focusing on giving your clients and users an exceptionally good service. Indeed you will observe that most of the big names in hosting today, got there more because of the quality and reliability of their services than from advertising and promotion.

It is true to say that there is too much emphasis on conventional advertising and promotion on the hosting industry when excellent services can take a hosting company much further.

Admittedly one of the things required for this strategy is lots of patience and a large war chest of funds to help you hold out until word gets out and starts translating into business for you. However many times the funds set aside for heavy advertising can cover this purpose.
